At this point in my life I’ve got denim shopping down to a science. I’ve tried them all… low-rise (which I’d like to forget), mid-rise, high rise, skinny leg, wide leg, straight leg, tapered, cropped, flared & ultra wide bell bottoms! I’ve tried it all, the good… the bad.. and the ugly, and now I’m about to impart some wisdom.
But please, let’s not state the obvious, which is comfort being the most important factor in your new pair of denim. We all know this already, it’s a given. However… I know, and you know, that no matter how comfortable that pair of denim is, if it doesn’t make our backside look cute, we ain’t buyin’ it.
In my lengthy relationship with denim, I’ve come to find that there are three brands that do everything from lift, round and smooth, and those are Levi’s, Rolla’s, and Madewell. Never have I ever gotten so many compliments on my bum than when I wear these three brands!
Now let’s narrow things down a bit…
I need to go into a little depth about Levi’s because there’s a couple different fits. The “501” is the OG, the classic fit that started it all. The “wedgie” is a bit more snug through the hips and waist. Then we have the ribcage.. my personal faves, they are the newest addition to the Levi’s family. They sit really high on your waist, since I’m tall (5’7) they basically hit me at the same rise that the wedgie’s and 501’s hit someone who is 5’2/5’4. Levi’s has since added so many new washes to this fit.
They have a great selection of Levi’s at Urban Outfitters. Here are a few of my faves:
I go for the “curvy” fit at Madewell, the rise is a bit higher than the regular fit.
Madewell is sold on Madewell.com Here are a few of my faves:
